That's such a cool thing to do JJ. From what I read on Rias blog she's just about to hit the 365 trail again soon, so we should be seeing more of her here. So far most of us are holding out. A few early dropouts, but I'm waiting to see if they come back with a bang, but I love the community that's built up around this. Great stuff
Yeah, I can't believe how much I talk about my "friends" to my real friends. It is possible to make community with people you never see. I love it, it's actually the whole reason for doing it for me.
JJALLTHEWAY- i loooove love the daffodility card you sent me. It means a lot. Was a little down over the holidays and was a great pick me up. I am getting on track with mailart project and will post to the site ASAP. I plan to see out the year and complete it. thanx Andy for your support.
Thankyou for inviting me, Andy! What FUN! Did I tell you that a dear deceased friend of mine, Carlo Pittore, was part of the original mailart movement, and was friends with Ray Johnson and Bern Porter? Carlo would be thrilled with your project, and soo pleased that mailart is alive and well!!
I have to agree with this point - I talk about this to my friends and work colleagues all the time, which is why I'm getting roped in for anything that sounds like it could involve postcards at all! I am staggered by how quickly the community built up and how closely we all work together. I love the feedback on the pieces. It's a lovely little place
What a thrill it is to have you on board Martha. I only stumbled across your site last month while looking for mailartists that I didn't already know, and I can assure you that mailart is indeed alive and well as you can see!
For me the beauty of this movement that Ray started is how anyone can get involved, and you'll see that many of us here and in the mailart scene in general are not "artists" but just people making art. It's a wonderful thing to have a community build up of ordinary people who like to make art together, brought together around a common interest.
