Wow Keira! That is quite a departure from the last weeks posts. Is this a weekly style change? I LOVE this pic. I think I'll make it into my desktop wallpaper on my PC. Really excellent work!
Aw, so glad that you like it. Um, I have three or four different bodies of work that I am currently working on, and tend to veer from one to the next. This 'style' is an altered photograph. (and it's altered by hand - can't be bothered with fussing around with computers) I remove parts of the surface of the photograph using an exacto blade. There is no glue or other paper involved. It's time consuming and finicky, but it can produce amazing results.
I'm not planning on doing a weekly style change, but at the same time, my interest in any one medium tends to last about a week. And then I veer back again. The only thing that I don't tend to apply to mail-art is painting, because I use lots of materials that could get damaged en route.
Really, at the moment the biggest thing influencing my own art is the projects that I am planning for my students. I always have to experiment with the project that I am going to assign to them, so it tends to enter the artistic lexicon of my mail art.
