#4 - Buy Local

I used a few bits of my vintage food labels for this one. And the embossing tool, which almost forced me to toolcide. Hate that damn tool. I am not going to look at it for a long time.

I do try to buy local for most all my food. It's hard in the winter, though. And I love that the egg labels says "a vegetable food product." Huh? Quick ... someone call the vegans and let them know eggs are vegetables.

This is going to Jon Foster, an IUOMA member, to thank him for his soup card.

Edit - I just looked up this Madam Blumer's thing and it was an egg substitute, or perhaps extender, that saved folk from using too many eggs. It dates to 1910, and this is the actual label. I had no idea how vintage these bit was!

Ah yes, I remember our economics lecturer a few weeks telling us how expensive eggs used to be - that's why battery farming of chickens is such a massive industry now, the process brings down the cost of eggs massively.

But it's so funny to see the "don't worry guys its a vegetable" label :)

I don't think I left it on too long ... just long enough to make the powder glittery, but in a nano second it went from glittery to burnt looking. I think the tool needs to go, or maybe the powder is past its "best by" date? Maybe the powder is not forever?

The embossing tool is great! Did you leave it on too long and burn your powder?
